The Duchess' Tea Room

The English social tradition of taking Afternoon Tea is said to have originated in the late 1830s by Duchess Anna Maria, wife of the 7th Duke of Bedford, who entertained her friends in the Blue Drawing Room at Woburn Abbey. She felt it was such a long time between luncheon and dinner and an afternoon tea helped to bridge the gap.

During your visit why not take an opportunity to treat yourself to a Duchess Anna Maria Afternoon Tea at the Duchess' Tea Room? A selection of sandwiches, homemade cakes and scones with clotted cream and jam and a pot of tea for £12.50 per person.

Served from 11.00am to 3.00pm subject to availability. Please pre-book to avoid disappointment.

The Duchess' Tea Room also offers many delicious treats and tasty meal options with daily specials and homemade cakes and a wide selection of Suki teas to chose from.
