About Us
Woburn Abbey has been the home of the Dukes of Bedford for nearly 400 years. As well as being set in 3,000 acres of beautiful grounds, the great house itself is full of unique history and is a remarkable record of 400 years of English history. This includes the story that led the 14th Duke to creating a charity called the Tavistock Trust.
With all this inspiration and enjoyment on offer, it is little wonder that Woburn Abbey is one of Britain's most treasured houses
Treasure Houses
The Treasure Houses of England represent ten of the finest historic houses in England. Most are still lived in, and loved, by the families who have owned them for generations.
Tavistock Trust for Aphasia
In 1988 the late 14th Duke of Bedford suffered a stroke. His life was saved by prompt and highly skilled surgery, but he was left for many months with a severe disturbance of his speech known as Aphasia.
