Art
Woburn Abbey Antiques Centre prides itself on offering a fine selection of period paintings, and has created a permanent rolling art exhibition featuring specific and local artists, and genres from different periods. The paintings are exhibited and on sale, and complement our existing fine selection of 300 period paintings on display.
Art Deco
The Art Deco pictures are evocative reminders of the deco period from the 1920’s and 1930’s by artists such as Alberto Vargos, Paul Irib, Ramon Dilly and Edouard Chimot. Consisting mainly of prints, the selection includes limited editions, and in many cases original pieces.
Portraits
The portrait paintings form an interesting collection of traditional oil, watercolour, pastel and coloured etchings from the 18th and 19th century, each capturing an individual in time.
Marine and Seascape
Capturing atmospheric scenes from coastal landscapes to superbly rendered ships and sailing craft, the marine and seascape paintings present a fine collection of 19th century coastal subjects.
Equine
The equine paintings for sale represent a favourite and timeless subject, primarily represented by quality works in oil from the 19th century to pictures from the 20th century by Peter Howell.
Domestic Animal Scenes
Domestic animal paintings remain a favourite subject with collectors and the casual buyer alike. Highland cattle scenes strongly feature, which were very popular in late Victorian Britain. Also on view are a good variety of traditional rustic country subjects from the 19th century.
Landscape
Largely from the 19th century, the landscape collection includes a wide selection of British and Continental oil paintings and watercolours, with a huge variety of panoramic country scenes, townscapes and representations of many delightful subjects.
Prints
We have a wide and interesting variety of antique prints, mounted and framed. The mix of styles and subjects include map prints, advertising prints, equine and bird prints, botanical, moth and butterfly prints.
