Educator-led sessions in the My World Education Centre are designed to be fun, interactive and curriculum focused. Many sessions include opportunities for hands-on experiences with live animals and animal artefacts.
Key Stage 3 - My World Classroom Sessions
Endangered Animals and the Law (citizenship/geography)
This session looks at why trade in endangered species is so damaging and what laws exist nationally and internationally to protect endangered species. There are specific examples about endangered species at Woburn with opportunities for discussion.
Variation and Classification (Science)
Why do animals differ? How do scientists classify animals into groups? This session looks at these topics using biofacts and live animals.
Amazing Adaptations (science)
What amazing adaptations have animals developed in order to feed, move and avoid predators in their particular habitats? What seasonal changes to the habitat do these animals have to endure and what strategies have they developed to avoid climatic stress?
GCSE/AS/A2 Level/Post 16
Role of a Modern Zoo
What makes a good zoo? This session discovers the history of zoos, how zoos support conservation, captive breeding programmes, and limitations of ex situ conservation.
Evolution
How have animals evolved to be what they are today? This session looks at Darwin's Theory of Evolution with a focus on the animals at Woburn Safari Park.
Science in the Workplace
How does Woburn Safari Park use science? This looks at all of the ways science can be used here from captive breeding to skills and qualifications to health and safety.
SNAB Day
This day programme brings together several elements to fully compliment the SNAB curriculum and applied science courses. A conservation focused guided coach tour of the Safari Drive Through is followed by ‘Role of a Modern Zoo' talk. There is a chance to interview keepers about their role in conservation in addition to free time at the Park.
Guided Coach Tours
Book an educator to help you make the most of your drive around our safari reserves. Discover facts about the animals, the threats facing them in the wild and how they are adapted to the place where they live as well as how we take care of them. Tours are designed to be interactive, informative and fun. They are tailored to the ages of the group and last up to 1 1/2 hours. Please ensure that the coaches you book have microphones. £1 per child (minimum charge £20). Suitable for all age groups.
Schools for Special Educational Needs
A more hands-on approach to our Feathers, Fur or Scales session, designed specifically for children with special educational needs.
Please note: S.E.N. Schools qualify for a 1:2 adult to child ratio. £8.95 each additional adult.
