After a successful partnership spanning many years, The Bedford Estates will be taking over the management of the Aspley Woods Access Areas, including Apsley Heath and Woburn Bike Park and Trails. This transition marks a significant milestone in our shared commitment to enhancing and preserving this cherished natural space.

As part of this change, the Greensand Trust will be handing back management responsibilities for all elements covered under the Access Agreement. From December, bike passes (both jumps and cross-country) and horse passes will continue to be required but will now be made available directly via The Bedford Estates.

All volunteers associated with the site, including those supporting the jump track and cross-country trails, will also need to register with The Bedford Estates. From December, access and volunteering in these areas will no longer be covered by Greensand Trust insurance. We would like to express our sincere thanks to all volunteers for their hard work and dedication in maintaining access and ensuring the trails remain safe and enjoyable for all users. Your commitment has been invaluable.

Looking ahead, The Bedford Estates, in collaboration with renowned bike champion Matt Jones, is embarking on an exciting new chapter to develop a world-class biking facility. This initiative aims to fuel progression of MTB enthusiasts while respecting the natural beauty of Aspley Woods and the needs of the local community.

To support this transformation, we will need to temporarily close the bike park at some point during the project to undertake essential forestry work. This short-term closure is necessary to ensure the long-term health of the woodland and will ultimately serve to enhance the final offering for all users.

Planning is currently underway, and updates will be shared soon.
